The Scotland Malawi Partnership held its 2017 AGM on Saturday 30th September – in an interesting and busy day full of activities and opportunities to meet others, we heard from schoolchildren who had been on life-changing trips to Malawi, the energetic and creative Scotland Malawi Partnership team and there was a video-link followed by an unexpected appearance by Vera Kamtukele, Malawi Scotland Partnership’s Chief Executive.  The current SMP chair, Ken Ross, gave a moving tribute to Jack Thompson who died in August – Dr Thompson was a wise and stalwart supporter of Malawi over many decades and is much missed.

The focus for the whole day was Partnership in all its different forms and Brian Kerr and Hazel Dawson attended the AGM on behalf of the Soko and Mamie Martin Funds and were presented with an award for a video illustrating the strong and high-quality collaboration between the two Funds – the award was a plaque, a basket full of Malawian goodies and an extra prize of a return flight between Scotland and Malawi which had been donated by Ethiopian Airways!

This photo shows Brian and Hazel accepting the award for the video from David Hope-Jones, Chief Executive of the Scotland Malawi Partnership.
