Hoolahooping again!

Here we go again! The date to remember is Monday 27th August 2018

Our Trustee, Angie, attends Curves Women’s gym in Dunfermline and last year came up with this fun idea to raise money.

Some of the members and staff took part in a 5 hour hoolahoop session, taking it in turns to keep a 3lb power hoop twirling! Some managed 10 minutes at a time while a few experienced “hoopers” kept going for 20!

Angie comments: “It was such good fun with everyone encouraging us, cheering us on and there was a great atmosphere on the circuit. Everyone enjoyed it, whether taking part or watching, and all agreed that we must do it again!”

Since that event other members have been motivated to learn to hoolahoop or improve their times. The last 6 months have seen a big increase in hoolahoop practice on the circuit.

The bonus of course was the money we raised for the Mamie Martin girls in Malawi through sponsorship, mainly from generous Curves members. We do a number of fund raising events throughout the year and being a gym specifically for women all the charities we choose support girls and women in some way. This year we would like to see sponsorship of the Curves Hoolahoopathon widen.”
