On Saturday 10th November the Mamie Martin Fund held its' AGM at Ladywell Church Hall in Stirling. The event was well attended by 45-50 individuals over the course of the afternoon and all were well fed with some delicious homemade soups and sandwiches. Over £600 was raised on the day through generous donations and also from the sale of greetings cards and various Malawian handmade crafts and gifts. Thankyou to all who contributed!
Short presentations were made by the convener and treasurer and also by pupils from Falkirk High School. Kinross High School teachers Euan Mckay and Lynn Caldwell also gave great first-hand accounts of their recent trip to Malawi where they visited the MMF supported schools. The AGM was attended by the Rev. Maxwell Banda, Education Secretary CCAP-Livingstonia, who gave a warm and heartfelt vote of thanks to MMF founders Margaret and John Sinclair who have both decided to retire from the committee. A kind gift of a wooden carved plaque (pictured) was made to Margaret and John by Rev. Banda. It's inscription reading 'John and Margaret Sinclair. Founders of the Mamie Martin Fund. Happy retirement 10th Nov. 2007 School Girls in Malawi.'
