Mamie and Jack met on the ‘bonnie banks’ of Loch Lomond as the shadow of the First World War began to fall on Europe. They had a long courtship and engagement before they finally married in 1921 and set off to Africa. Using diaries and letters, Margaret, Mamie’s daughter and Alastair, Mamie’s nephew, put together the story of that time in the village of Tarbet. Loch Lomond. As ever, Mamie and Jack’s voices from the past give us a fascinating insight into their lives at that time.
The picture shows Mamie, aged 20, and her three Telfer sisters.
